Lazy Day!

I’m feeling pretty lazy today. It is almost noon and I have been fiddle-farting around on the computer, idly watching inaugural coverage on CNN, and staring out the window to see if it looks any warmer outside (it doesn’t). Lazy, lazy day! Soon though the maid will come to clean up the room and I will be a good excuse to get off my ass and do something.

Later that same day …

Well, the cleaning lady came much sooner than I expected and so out I went. I had been thinking about renting a bike and exploring the more than 48 km of bike and walking trails in Tsukuba. Instead I decided to walk to a bakery that one of our friends here recommended. I always like having a destination so that it feels like my walk has a purpose. I also picked up a few items at the 100 Yen store (requested after my last post) and my Starbucks of the day.

Last night we went to a “Chabu Chabu” dinner. The closest thing that I can equate it to is a Mongolian Hot Pot. It was terrific and the broth at the end made me wonder how I could make it at home.

The new Moon Rover took part in the Inaugural Parade. Our favorite Scottish lad (and brand new US citizen) took part in the parade. We are so proud of the astronauts and support staff that participated. What a historic day!

Here are some YouTube links from the parade:

I loved the delighted look on President Obama and Mrs. Obama's face with the Moon Rover. Bodes well for future funding I hope.

Tomorrow we are off to a Ryokan near the Yunishigawa Hot Springs. We are looking forward to relaxing and spending time together. Our crossword puzzle book awaits. I hope to see some monkeys.

Have a terrific day!

Ella
